Progression in Program Away from Troop Meeting Place
All trips must follow Safety-Wise chapter of Volunteer Essentials Resource Guide and accompanying Safety Activity Checkpoints. 
Level 1 Field trips to nearby locations

Usually take place during the regular group meeting time.
Examples: library, fire station, nearby park, council sponsored event

Girl Readiness
- Understand buddy system.
- Ability to function as part of a group.
- Follow proper etiquette and safety for the occasion.
Adult Preparation
- Consult age-level leader guide.
- Signed parental permission slips.
- Appropriate transportation has been secured.
- Adult first aider recommended.

 
Level 2 Day Trips

Trip that takes place outside of regular group meeting time and is not an overnight. Location near enough to travel to point of interest, tour and take part in planned activity, time for food and/or rest stops, and return in same day.
Examples: local or state parks, amusement park, water park, zoo, theater, council sponsored event, horseback riding

Girl Readiness
- Have successfully completed two or three Level 1 trips.
Adult preparation
- Follow Safety-Wise chapter of the Volunteer Essentials Resource Guide and accompanying Safety Activity Checkpoints.
- Consult age-level leader guide.
- Signed parental permission slips.
- Appropriate transportation has been secured
- Adult first aider required.

 
Level 3 Overnight Trips (one or two nights)

One night away with specific plans for activities while there. This level includes staying overnight in a hotel or similar facility, as well as camping.
Example: Zoo Camp-In, Service Unit Camporee, overnight in a lodge, cabin, or tent at camp.

Girl Readiness
- Have successfully completed two or three Level 2 trips
- Learned skills necessary for successful adventure through activities.
Adult Preparation
- One adult must complete troop camp certification if camping.
- Adult first aider required.
- Complete and submit required forms.
- Registration for troop camping, if camping
- Level 3 Trip notification form.
- Both forms need service unit team (Beth Guthrie) approval

 
Level 4 Extended Overnight Trips

Includes trips within the United States including two or more nights away.
- Follow procedures in the Level 4 Trip Packet, available from your field executive or the corporate headquarters.
- Council approval required one year in advance of the trip.

 
Level 5 International Trips

Any trip to an international destination. Follow procedures in the Level 5 Trip Packet, available from your field executive or the corporate headquarters.
- Council approval required two years in advance of trip.
- Questions, contact the program department.
